IF Function in Excel Tutorial

Learn how to use the IF function, one of the most popular functions in Microsoft Excel. The IF function allows you to make logical comparisons between a value and what you expect. An IF statement can have two results. The first result is if your comparison is True, the second if your comparison is False.

For example, =IF(C2=”Yes”, 1, 2) says IF(C2 = Yes, then return a 1, otherwise return a 2).

  10. Just wondering if you could do something on Query's for the internet and from another workbook, a more advances formulas & functions, wrapping formulas, and basically using functions & formulas in intermediate stage and advanced stages. You are the only person on YouTube I can find that deals directly with MS Office 365, I am getting some glitches trying to merge between 2016 tutorials and yours on 365. I'd much prefer to learn from you where you are using 365, also could you tell me if 365 has that "What are you looking for" feature, there is only an average search which doesn't give the information 2016 claims to show the user.

  11. Kevin, you never let me down. You are so articulate, and thanks to your expertise in teaching, I am gaining a vast array in many different areas of Excel.

  12. Thank you for this.
    I have an ICT exam coming up on Wednesday as part of an early years education qualification and I need to do some serious revision.
    Your videos are excellent.

  13. im using 2007 and =IF(B2<C2,"Within Budget","OverBudget – Investigate") dosen't work. How come? is there a reason kevin. Cause I watched most of your tutorials and i did great but with this one im having a hard time with =IF(B2<C2,"Within Budget","OverBudget – Investigate")

    Nvm i fixed it. BTw as i said, I did great with excel i love your tutorials keep it up Kevin 😀

    my problem =IF(B2<C2,"Within Budget","OverBudget – Investigate")

    fixed =IF(C2<B2,"Within Budget","OverBudget – Investigate") i didn't follow this properly at first time :/

  14. How do you add another formula into the if statement?

    =if(c40>0,"C40*.2","0") – this just gives me the entry of c40*.2 instead of its formula value. How do I structure the formula to give the value for c40*.2 instead?

  15. Hey Kevin I just wanted to thank you for the videos you make it helped me start my YouTube channel knowing witch recorder and video editor to use so thanks and keep up the awesome work.
